The demonstrations in France have recently brought millions of citizens to the streets in the form of strikes and work stoppages. The most recent mass outrage in France is a reaction to President Sarkozy's recent decision not to back down on pension reform. EU Transport Ministers came to a agreement on amendment to Eurovignette Directive regarding increasing taxes for trucks emitting more pollution nad noise. The decision is meant to promote ecological transport and tackle congestion problem. In the light of the above the owners of trucks will pay higher taxes. After 14 years of works, world's longest tunnel under the Swiss Alps have been completed!   On 15th October at exactly 2.17pm with last 3 minutes of drilling works broadcast live on Swiss and German TV, champagnes were popped for celebration. The 57km Gottard rail tunnel is claimed to revolutionise transport across Europe, being opened by the end of 2016. Teenage girl Katie Gillard named as the youngest female truck driver in Britain by the Road Haulage Association.   Having passed her Cat C test, 19-year-old Katie is starting a job as a driver at her father's haulage company JL Gillard & Sons. The European Commission has made a proposal limits the amount of trailers up to 4 meters. This idea wasn't be accepted enthusiastically by the Road Haulage Association.   As RHA affirm, the amount's decreasing of trailers up to 4 meters may endanger the UK transport market efficiency.
